Together we make up 618 Studios. We love and enjoy: good coffee, In-N-Out at least once a week, Urban Outfitters, traveling, Costco dates, and just about any board game. We met when we were just 17 and 4 years later we became The Gilsters. Just 3 months into our new married life we took a leap of faith and started 618 Studios. By a leap of faith, we mean, spending our entire already tiny savings on 1 camera body, 1 lens, a couple tripods, a few mics. We had a long way to go and no idea where we were headed; we just knew we were passionate about filmmaking. Three years later we are amazed that we can continue in pursuing our passion fulltime. With every project, whether it's a corporate client or newly married couple we strive to create films that tell their unique story.
Growing up, numbers always made sense to me, I genuinely enjoyed my math classes over everything else and I always expected that Engineering was in my future. So you are probably wondering how and when filmmaking became a part of my life? Well, you can thank my cute film nerd of a wife Kelley for that! While we were dating, I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t working on some kind of film project; and over those 4 years, I began to develop a deep appreciate for filmmaking. When the idea of starting our very own production company came alive, I was fully onboard.
Despite my newfound love for filmmaking, I have continued to pursue my education in engineering and am currently going to school to receive my masters. When I’m not working or attending grad school, I enjoy a great round of golf, a glorious 4×4 at In-N-Out, helping Kelley with all of her DIY projects (I tend to take them over unknowingly), and lastly of all things gardening. Succulents are my specialty! Thanks for taking to time to read my story; I hope someday I can tell yours.
Hi there, I’m Kelley, it’s so nice to meet you! This journey began for me at 16 when my academic counselor placed me in a video production class to complete my elective units for that school year. I never would have guessed that a simple high school elective would forever change my life. Immediately I began to educate myself in film, I could never learn enough! After graduation I moved on to study film in college and eventually received my degree in Cinema digital productions. And to think it all began in Mr. Goodman’s video production class!
When I’m not filmmaking, I love to travel and explore God’s creation, whether it’s a quick weekend getaway to Palm Springs or somewhere across the country, it’s all amazing to me. I appreciate an awesome breakfast burrito, love any DIY project, could watch Bravo all day long, and just enjoy meeting new/interesting people. In a nutshell, that’s my story, I’d love to hear yours!
